At a cafe by the gate of an elementary school in Nara, after their first PTA meeting, a mother (A) and another mother she has just met (B) reach the counter together.

    いえいえ、高橋たかはしさんは？

    Ie ie, Takahashi-san wa?

    No, no. What are you having, Ms. Takahashi?

  3. A

    じゃあ、コーヒーお願ねがいします。

    Jā, kōhī onegai shimasu.

    Okay then, a coffee, please.

  4. B

    あ、私わたしもコーヒーお願ねがいします。

    A, watashi mo kōhī onegai shimasu.

    Oh, a coffee for me too, please.
