Day 198 of 320

Day 198: A Gift for the New Neighbors

A young woman (B) has just moved into her first apartment in Wakayama, and her mother (A) calls her. In Japan, people who move in often greet their neighbors with a small gift.

Read the dialogue

Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

  1. A

    お隣となりさんにはもう会あった?

    Otonari-san ni wa mō atta?

Have you met your neighbors yet?

  2. B

    ううん、まだ。

    Ūn, mada.

    No, not yet.

  3. A

    じゃあ、お菓子かしがいいよ。

    Jā, okashi ga ii yo.

Then some sweets would be nice.

  4. B

    うん、駅えきの店みせで買かう。

Un, eki no mise de kau.

Okay, I'll get some at the shop in the station.
